Re:production, a filmmaking firm based in the north-east of England, is among the first to have taken advantage of a superfast broadband connection voucher provided by the Go Digital Newcastle rollout programme.

Thanks to an injection of cash from Newcastle City Council and the European Regional Development Fund, the regional rollout project has been able to offer local businesses a voucher worth £3,000 for no cost to enable them to connect to better broadband to boost their work.

Since taking advantage of one of the free vouchers, Re: production has experienced a signficantly improved internet connection, with the ability to send files and download videos much quicker than before.

Managing Partner of the film firm Phil Greenwood explained: "Our broadband speed was previously so slow that even half a gigabyte took an age to upload. We used to try to send files at night because they took so long."

Speeding such tasks up has also freed up time for the company to spend on other jobs.

Overall, Go Digital Newcastle aims to connect 97 per cent of residential and commercial properties throughout the city to superfast broadband by the summer of 2015.
