Broadband network could face strain during World Cup
The UK broadband network could be put under huge strain from office workers watching games live on their employers network, according to a recent survey.

Eclipse Internet found that more than half of employees plan to watch games via live streaming while at work, and this could cause significant bottlenecks in the system.

The business broadband provider is advising companies to be mindful of the impact that this could have on their business operation, particularly during England's group game against Slovenia.

Eclipse director Clodagh Murphy warned: "Streamed content uses a lot of bandwidth and this could seriously impact the performance of their business internet connection.

"We suggest that all organisations develop robust guidelines on office computer use to avoid network congestion and slow performance of key applications."

Eclipse Internet provides home and business broadband packages, and recently won Best Customer Focus award at the Best Business awards.
