Broadband 'not good enough' for Cookstown firms
People and businesses in Cookstown are suffering at the hands of broadband problems, with services in the area said to be substandard.

The Mid-Ulster Mail has told how businesspeople in the A29 region are being impacted by slow connections, with speeds of only 1MB in place.

MLA for Mid Ulster Patsy McGlone said he would like to see BT now prioritise improvements to the broadband infrastructure in Cookstown as a matter of urgency.

Commenting on the A29 firms, he explained that despite the fact they are not rurally located, they are still suffering from slow broadband speeds.

With these organisations known to turnover hundreds of millions of pounds a year, it is imperative they are provided with the best broadband infrastructure possible.

Northern Ireland has a track record of experiencing below-par broadband connectivity, with a 2011 survey showing more than a third of the lines in Cookstown were incapable of meeting the government's target of 2MB.
