Broadband plans 'could boost Aberdeen economy'
Hundreds of millions of pounds could be added to the Aberdeen economy as a result of the ongoing investment in superfast broadband connectivity across the city.

Malcolm Corbett, boss of the Independent Networks Co-operative Association, highlighted the results of a recent government study that showed that for every £1 invested in improved broadband access, an area can expect to receive £20 in associated economic benefits in the years ahead.

As a result, the considerable level of fibre optic broadband investment taking place in Aberdeen right now is expected to deliver upwards of £500 million in improved economic activity across the network's lifespan.

Mr Corbett therefore believes businesses in the area will benefit from ongoing efforts to make Aberdeen one of the most connected cities in Europe - an aim that is being backed by both the city's local authority and the Scottish government.
