Broadband 'to be central technology of the future'Broadband will play an increasingly central role in almost every part of people's lives in the future, an expert has predicted. ![]() Tony Tickle, coordinator at Digital Bury, has predicted that mobile technologies will also play a crucial role, with almost every aspect of technology suitable for use with broadband. His comments follow a speech by Dr Mike Short, vice-president of research and development at Telefonica Europe, which owns leading broadband provider O2, which highlighted the future of broadband. Dr Short emphasised the health benefits which broadband will enable people to enjoy, suggesting that the developments created by companies focusing on digital health care will help many people to lead active and independent lives. Earlier this month, eDigitalResearch reported that improvements in the UK's broadband networks would benefit everybody in the country. It suggested that both businesses and consumers would see an improved efficiency in their day-to-day lives. Related Stories
