Browser choice 'yet to impact home broadband users'An author has claimed that Microsoft's browser choice screen has not had a strong affect on people's internet habits. ![]() Simon May, author of the Rough Guide To Windows 7, stated that Internet Explorer has been losing some of its market share recently but the only browser to have registered gains has actually been Google Chrome. His comments follow the decision by the European Commission that Microsoft will need to offer home broadband users a choice of opting for a browser other than its own. He downplayed the impact this will have on the market, suggesting that there is no evidence that people are dissatisfied with their current software. Mr May stated: "Lots and lots of consumers just want to get to their website - they don't really care how they get there and Internet Explorer does a good job on delivering that core need." Janco Associates recently conducted research that found Firefox's market share is second highest, although it fell by 0.6 per cent between February 2009 and 2010. Related Stories
