BT cabinet installation slammed by Stoke householder
A Stoke homeowner has hit out at BT's decision to install a 5 ft broadband street cabinet outside his house without his prior knowledge.

Anthony Podmore, a 29-year-old property developer who lives in Shelton, fears the cabinet - which is located just metres from his front day - may devalue his home, reports the Sentinel.

"I don't care if it gives me the fastest broadband in the world, they haven't consulted me about it," he remarked. "I don't agree with where they have put it."

Mr Podmore expressed concern that the box will lead to a rise in antisocial behaviour in the area, claiming a similar structure close to his house already "attracts gangs of kids".

However, a BT spokesman insisted the correct planning processes were followed and no complaints were received from the city council.

Incidents of this nature could become more common after new Culture Secretary Maria Miller outlined plans that will remove the need for broadband providers to receive planning permission from local councils.
