BT connects 153 street cabinets in Herts to fibre optic broadbandAround 77,000 Hertfordshire properties are now able to access fibre optic broadband from BT. ![]() The telecoms giant has laid more than 166km of fibre optic cable across the county over the summer months, connecting 153 street cabinets in the process. Residents of Hoddesdon, Waltham Cross, St Albans, Lea Valley and Watford will benefit from the infrastructure improvements, which have largely been carried out at night to minimise disruption in the local area. Around 77,000 homes and businesses in Hertfordshire are now able to access high-speed broadband from BT as a result of these upgrades. Jonathon Bailey, an engineer who has been working on the project in Watford, remarked: "I am really excited to be playing a part in bringing super-fast broadband to my friends and family in my home town." Last month, BT announced it would connect more than 11,000 households and company premises in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, to its fibre optic broadband network over the coming weeks. Related Stories
