BT offers free mobile Wi-Fi to Total Broadband customersAndroid and Apple smartphone owners signed up to BT Total Broadband can browse the web for free, thanks to a new app from the telecoms giant. ![]() The telecoms giant has 1.6 million hotspots, which subscribers will be able to use at no cost once they download a free mobile application to their handsets. Once they have done this, customers will simply have to enter their BT email username and password, with the programme then automatically connecting them to its Wi-Fi network whenever they are within range. A map detailing the location of these hotspots is also included with the app. Managing director for BT Retail Consumer John Petter commented: "This free app makes accessing Wi-Fi so simple you don't even have to think about it." Last month, the telecoms giant revealed that Wi-Fi usage at holiday and caravan parks across the UK surged during the first fortnight of the school summer holidays.
