BT plays down perceived broadband delays in Burton
BT has moved to play down consumer frustration over apparent delays to the rollout of super-fast broadband in the Burton upon Trent suburb of Winshill.

According to the Burton Mail, residents in one part of the community have been stuck without fibre optic broadband for several months, despite being given numerous planned launch dates for the service.

The telecoms giant insisted that work in the area is ongoing and that any dates for the introduction of faster broadband were intended only as a guide, rather than a firm promise.

A BT spokesman said the rollout is in hand, but that Openreach - the company's local access network business - still needs to install more street cabinets in certain parts of Winshill.

Although Openreach gives regular updates to all communications providers on when new services will be made available, the spokesman explained: "The information is only a guide and subject to changes given the nature of this massive, very involved engineering project."
