BT promises significant boost for south-east England
Network provider BT has promised to provide a significant boost to the south-east of England over the coming years to contribute towards its future success.

This follows the recent appointment of a new Regional Director for the area, Dave Axam, who stated: "We have a huge contribution to make to the region. BT has ... already brought high-speed internet access to more than three million south-east homes and businesses."

Despite this, he added there would be more improvements to come, as the network provider is working with partners throughout the south-east to try to bring fibre broadband to an increased number of residential and commercial properties in the region.

Mr Axam will be bringing a wealth of experience in the telecoms industry to his new role, having worked with BT for over 30 years. He has held a variety of positions within the organisation, including stints as a Transmission Engineer, the Director of Transformation for BT Design and Business Development Director.

Last year alone, BT invested £13 million in south-east charity programmes, while it recently announced it would be recruiting 250 engineers and 40 apprentices and graduates from the region.
