Business broadband connections 'need reliability and resilience'A leading executive at Virgin Media Business has picked out broadband's reliability and resilience as key selling points. ![]() Mark Heraghty, managing director of leading broadband provider Virgin Media Business, has highlighted that this is an area that his company is investing in. He emphasised the fact that both the fibre optic network and the back-end areas of assets need to be examined and optimised in order to get the most from this infrastructure. "This will enable us to improve the power management and monitoring of the networks, and allow us to be aware of any faults as soon as they happen," he stated. Mr Heraghty added that major changes in IT department procurement strategy have included a growing emphasis on capital expenditure and cost control. One of the key factors driving business broadband uptake is IP PBX systems, which In-Stat practice leader and senior analyst David Lemelin has claimed offers companies a more cost effective telephony system.
