Kent residents wait to discover super-fast broadband plans
Kent County Council (KCC) has said it is currently unable to confirm which communities will be first to benefit from the local authority's super-fast broadband project.

The £43 million Broadband Delivery UK-backed initiative is aiming to deliver universal connectivity by 2015, with next-generation speeds for 90 per cent of homes and businesses.

Speaking to Kent News, a KCC spokesman explained: "It will not be possible to confirm the geological phasing for the rollout until after the procurement has been completed and initial survey work has been undertaken."

In the meantime, the county council is urging residents and businesses to continue showing their desire to access faster broadband by completing a survey. More than 16,500 responses have already been received as part of the scheme.

KCC needs to be able to illustrate local levels of demand for the technology in order to secure support and investment from a commercial internet service provider such as BT.
