London firms meet to discuss better broadband benefits
Businesses from across London have been discussing and learning about the advantages of being superconnected at an event at the Houses of Parliament, which took place earlier this week (18 June 2014).

It was designed to highlight the benefits of the government's Superconnected Cities programme, which provides financial support to organisations wishing to gain a faster broadband connection through a voucher scheme, Business Today reports.

The event was organised by fibre broadband network operator Venus Business Communications and Westminster Business Council, and was attended by companies who already have access to superfast broadband, as well as representatives from smaller firms who may be interested in gaining such a connection in the future.

Catherine Gannon, Founding Managing Partner of Gannon Solicitors, explained how a superfast broadband connection has helped her company. She stated: "The fibre optic network means that my growing team of partners, associates and solicitors can work remotely, getting the information they need securely, quickly and reliably."

Ms Gannon added it has helped keep expenditure within the business at a low level, but it has also aided the firm in its expansion throughout the UK, which has been made further possible due to the use of cloud technology.
