Marketing drive in bid to boost Welsh broadband uptake
A marketing push is being given to superfast broadband in Wales in a bid to get more homes and businesses to sign up to receive a connection to the high-speed technology.

Wales Online reports that while the Superfast Cymru rollout programme has so far proved largely successful, internet service providers need to be doing their bit to drum up support for the scheme.

A Welsh government spokesman explained that overall, it is aiming to deliver fibre optic broadband to 700,000 premises by 2016, but wants to ensure that consumers are provided with enough information to help them to make their decision as to whether or not to sign up for access to the superfast service.

They added: "Marketing is focused on those areas able to receive fibre as the rollout continues and as the message of the many benefits of fast fibre broadband continues to spread, the take-up figures will rise."

The spokesman also said that an initiative is in place to educate businesses in the country about the advantages of the technology, with this set to run until spring next year.
