North Lincolnshire estate gains superfast broadband access
The Water's Edge estate near Brigg in North Lincolnshire is one of the latest rural areas to benefit from a connection to superfast broadband thanks to the government's rollout programme.

It is the first community in the North Lincolnshire area to gain access to the high-speed service, but an additional 6,000 homes and businesses across the county will also be connected during the coming five months, the Yorkshire Post reported.

Andrew Percy, MP for Brigg and Goole, said: "Superfast broadband is essential for people who work from home. We know rural areas pay more in taxes and get less in services - this is a way of bridging the gap."

He added that fibre broadband was essential and claimed it is as important as gas or electricity.

It is hoped around 92 per cent of those with homes or companies based in North Lincolnshire will have access to the superfast service by the end of 2015 and that the more rural parts of the county will be connected by 2017.
