North Yorks council completes broadband roll-out
The roll-out of superfast broadband to council buildings in North Yorkshire has been completed with the help of NYnet in a public-private partnership.

The £42 million broadband project has connected the county's 550 schools, care centres, libraries and council offices to a Wide Area Network (WAN).

These sites will now have access to broadband that is 60 times faster and with a bandwidth increase of 35 per cent.

David Sadler, assistant director in charge of ICT Services at North Yorkshire County Council, said that through the Nynet deal the council will be able to deliver greatly improved services to the public.

"NYnet is a unique technology enterprise which has made a real difference to the economic and social fortunes of the county providing the latest broadband technology at no extra cost," he added.

Meanwhile, residents in East Yorkshire have received a major boost to the area with a planned £4 million investment in the area's broadband infrastructure from Kingston Communications.

Around £1 million of this would be reserved for rural areas, according to the Hull Daily Times.
