Over 500 Superfast Lancashire cabinets installed
Superfast Lancashire has now installed 500 green fibre broadband cabinets throughout the county.
This means the high-speed connectivity initiative has passed its halfway mark, as it intends to install 900 of these boxes throughout the county in total.
Rural communities are being included in the rollout, with the beauty spot of Slaidburn among the most recent to gain access to the superfast internet service.
Superfast Lancashire is working alongside network provider BT's own commercial rollout to deliver better broadband to 97 per cent of homes and businesses in the region.
The telecoms giant's Openreach engineers have laid around 520 km of fibre optic cables across Lancashire to date, with this set to increase as the rollout continues.
Director of Next Generation Access at BT Steve Edwards commented: "Fibre broadband brings together, and connects, communities in rural Lancashire.
"It is crucial to village businesses, for those who work from home and for family entertainment."
