Suffolk Council updates residents on fibre optic plans
Residents in Battisford, near Stowmarket, have been updated on plans to improve broadband speeds in their area.

Mark Bee, Leader of Suffolk County Council and David Ruffley, MP for Bury St Edmunds, visited the village after locals complained that slow download speeds were negatively affecting their quality of life.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Chris Knock, Chairman of Battisford Parish Council, said: "Obviously there is still frustration in the village with the poor quality of the existing service - the parish council is still receiving complaints about it."

Broadband in Battisford is expected to be upgraded at some point in 2015, but residents have yet to have been given reassurances that this is still the case after a period of silence on its progress.

The UK government has been keen to see more rural areas benefit from its fibre optic broadband rollout and wants to have 95 per cent of the country covered by the technology by 2017.
