Super-fast broadband set for Lancashire roll out
Six towns in Lancashire are set to benefit from a next-generation broadband service.

Thousands of households in Colne, Darwen, Great Harwood, Padiham, Chorley and Todmorden are scheduled to receive super-fast broadband by spring next year, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

They will receive the improved broadband service because they are included in the latest roll out of BT's 21st Century Network Scheme.

BT regional director Mike Blackburn told the newspaper that the move will provide a major boost to businesses across the county.

He said: "Services delivered over next-generation broadband can be quicker, more efficient and offer a much wider range of features than those previously available."

Vicki Owen of the Mail on Sunday recently reported for thisismoney.co.uk that access to high-quality broadband services is a key issue for small businesses striving to compete with larger competitors.

She stated that the next government will need to deliver appropriate broadband policies in order for smaller organisations to have a chance of reaching their full potential.
