Virgin Media targeted for Lincs broadband improvementsLincolnshire County Council has said it is trying to persuade Virgin Media and other broadband providers to invest in the area. ![]() Head of economic regeneration at Lincolnshire County Council Justin Brown revealed the organisation has got in touch with public sector bodies in a bid to improve its broadband infrastructure, reports the Echo. However, he said this is only one part of its plans to boost broadband speeds, explaining: "The main aspects of our strategy are to persuade private digital service providers, such as BT, Virgin and Vodafone and the wealth of others, they should invest in Lincolnshire." The newspaper has previously noted that internet speeds in rural areas of the county are expected to be left trailing the rest of the UK in the coming years. Last month, the small Lincolnshire village of Ashby de la Launde was connected to a fibre optic broadband network, capable of delivering download speeds of up to 100Mb/s. NextGenUs UK and AFL Telecommunications carried out the work. Related Stories
