Wireless broadband service launched by East Midlands TrainsPeople travelling on select East Midlands Trains routes can access a new onboard Wi-Fi service. ![]() The transport company has launched its new onboard passenger Wi-Fi service in collaboration with Nomad Digital and is currently available on all six of its seven-car Meridian units. Over the coming months, the high-speed broadband facility will be rolled out to include all EMT Meridians and MKIII HSTs travelling on the London-Sheffield and London-Nottingham routes. First-class customers will not need to pay to access the service, but usage for standard passengers is subject to a "small charge" taken via credit or debit card. Sales manager for EMT Jayne Moyses said: "We're constantly looking at how we can further improve our service and we know the launch of onboard internet access will make a real difference for our passengers." In February 2010, Nomad revealed that more than 90,000 people a month take advantage of the fast wireless broadband service on the West Coast Main Line. Related Stories
