Broadband access offers something for everyone, says expert
There is something for everyone to enjoy from home broadband, an expert has said.

Helen Milner, spokeswoman for Get Online Week, pointed out that the 9.2 million people who do not yet enjoy broadband access need to be aware of the myriad benefits the internet can provide, such as watching on-demand TV programmes and keeping in touch with family and friends.

She added that internet access can also enable people to make cost savings on holidays and utility bills by using online price comparison websites.

"Also, there are very important things like benefit entitlement," Ms Milner added.

"Lots of people are not getting the financial support they are entitled to and [they] can check that online."

More than half of people over the age of 60 are currently not using the internet and there are also younger people who are not maximising the opportunities offered by a broadband connection, Ms Milner maintained.

Get Online Week is an annual event between October 18th and 24th that is aimed at promoting broadband awareness and inspiring more people to get connected to the web.
