BT tells Wansford residents they have not been forgotten in broadband rollout
Residents in the village of Wansford have been left concerned that they have been left out of superfast broadband rollouts, but BT representatives have attended a parish meeting, reassuring local people that this is not the case.

Senior Project Manager at the telecoms organisation David Calvert and BT Business Development Director for the North Julia Watts attended the meeting at Wansford Village Hall, with Ms Watts telling residents: "You are not forgotten. Getting fibre optic broadband to places like this is a high priority - there is funding on the way."

Although Wansford may be one of the last communities in the UK to receive an upgrade to superfast broadband, Ms Watts hinted it may be included - along with nearby Skerne - in an extension of the Broadband Delivery UK rollout project. This means government funding would be provided for bringing the high-speed technology to homes and businesses.

This would bring great benefits to the local area, but Wansford and Skerne must first be accepted as successful candidates to be included in the extension.

To keep residents informed about any updates to their broadband situation, it has been agreed BT representatives will keep in contact with the parish council to let them know of any developments.
