BT to open major new Cardiff data centre
The telecoms giant is planning to open the facility by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
As part of a £4.3 million investment programme, the broadband bundle provider will open the facility at its International Data Centre in Cardiff Bay, with the work scheduled for completion by the end of March 2011.
It will feature innovations such as networked electronic whiteboards that will link teams from around the world, in a bid to improve collaboration between different sites to create and deliver new IT solutions.
Project director for BT Innovate & Design Andrew Board said the development will help to "radically speed up" the company's software development process.
"There is really no limit to what can be achieved in this collaborative working environment," he remarked.
The BT subsidiary was created from two existing organisations - BT Design and BT Innovate - and is tasked with developing networks and platforms, as well as looking at long-term technology plans and research.
