Cheshire councils call for super-fast broadband support
Residents and businesses in Cheshire are being urged to play their part in bringing super-fast broadband to the county.

To increase support for their bid for next-generation broadband funding, local councils have called for people to register their demand on the Connecting Cheshire website.

According to the authorities, the technology could boost Cheshire's economy by £1.3 billion over the next 15 years and deliver more than 11,000 jobs for the county, as well as offering householders improved connectivity.

So far, the Connecting Cheshire Partnership - comprising Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, Warrington and Halton councils - has received more than £3 million in government money, but needs to boost this total up to £40 million if 100 per cent coverage is to be achieved.

Herbert Manley, executive member for prosperity at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: "I urge everyone to back our campaign.

"By registering on the website you will help to ensure that your community or business can be prioritised for investment in super-fast broadband."
