Cheshire residents to gain fibre optic broadband access
Homes and businesses in Cheshire and Warrington will gain fibre optic broadband access thanks to a collaborative partnership between BT and a group of local councils.

The rollout scheme will bring superfast speeds to 96 per cent of the region, with the first phase of the engineering work taking place in March of next year.

Although the specific areas that will benefit haven't been revealed by the council yet, it has been confirmed that properties covered by 20 different exchanges will be introduced to next-generation broadband by March.

Warrington Borough Council Leader Terry O'Neill was quick to stress the economic boost the upgrade would bring to the region.

He explained: "This is a tremendously exciting announcement. The rollout of this programme will not only benefit homes across the borough of Warrington but will give our businesses a huge competitive edge."

Residents and business owners in the area can expect to have access to speeds of up to 80Mbps once the project is completed.
