Connecting Cheshire reveals superfast broadband locations
The organisers of the Connecting Cheshire project, which aims to increase fibre optic broadband coverage across the region, have announced the first areas that will benefit from the service.

It has been revealed that around 15,000 homes and businesses are set to benefit once essential engineering work has been carried out to install the next-generation infrastructure.

Locations including Nantwich, Holmes Chapel, Alderley Edge and east Crewe will be joined by 13 other villages that can expect to be connected to the fibre optic network as part of the first phase of the rollout.

Cheshire East Council Deputy Leader David Brown explained that the benefits that will be felt by the upgrade will have a huge impact in both social and economic contexts.

He said: "This is an exciting time for Cheshire and the beginning of a journey that will see our communications landscape completely transformed. This is great news and will help boost local businesses and the creation of jobs across Cheshire."

The councillor went on to say that he expects the first properties to be connected by summer 2014. Residents will be able to check the progress of their local upgrade by visiting the Connecting Cheshire website.
