Ed Vaizey backs Warwickshire broadband campaign
Ed Vaizey, UK Communications Minister, has backed a campaign to provide faster broadband speeds in Warwickshire.

Snitterfield, a small village in the county, is the first to receive fibre optic broadband, which will allow residents to access download speeds of up to 80Mbps, enabling them to take greater advantage of the digital economy.

Speaking about the importance of improving broadband connections in rural areas, Mr Vaizey said: "We already do more business online than any other European country and widespread access to superfast speeds will provide a welcome boost to the Warwickshire economy."

The minister was joined by local MP Nadhim Zahawi in welcoming the news.

Mr Zahawi claimed the government's £1 billion investment in broadband infrastructure would help millions of people around the country to do things they previously thought impossible, including the streaming of HD quality video content.

It is expected other Warwickshire villages will benefit from the fibre optic rollout in the coming days.
