New Cornwall Council vows to prioritise fibre broadband
The newly elected leader of Cornwall Council has said increasing fibre optic broadband coverage in the region will remain a priority.

Andrew Kerr explained that connectivity plays a key role in enhancing the lives of residents in the modern world and added that the positives that have come from the Connecting Cornwall project are already being felt.

Mr Kerr told the Cornish Guardian: "We are starting to see the benefits of large scale infrastructure projects here in Cornwall now, [including] the superfast broadband, the university and in time, the developments at Newquay Airport."

The Chief Executive went on to say that one of the most important issues in Cornwall is ensuring that small and medium-sized businesses are able to prosper through the use of the next-generation service.

He referenced the county's rich history of manufacturing and revealed the council intends to do everything in its power to maintain this reputation and attract entrepreneurs to set up new businesses in the area.
