O2 outlines business benefits of 4G mobile broadband
O2's Chief Solutions Architect Steve Pluta has highlighted the business benefits of 4G super-fast mobile broadband, claiming the technology can drive collaboration.

Mr Pluta explained that employers often speak of the need to collaborate more - from sharing files to video conferencing - and insisted this requirement can be attained through using 4G.

Furthermore, the service makes it easier for mobile workers to stay in touch with colleagues back in the office while out on the road, by boosting upload and download speeds on 4G-enabled devices. This could potentially bring an end to "frozen screen buffering", the expert said.

As well as increasing collaboration on a local and global scale, 4G could save firms money by enabling them to roll out virtual desktops on personal devices, reducing the number of licences needed for individual machines.

"In addition, there will be security benefits, as there will be less need to save on to individual devices and so no excuse for data to reside outside the network anymore," Mr Pluta added.

O2 is set to launch a 4G service this summer and is legally obliged to cover 98 per cent of the population by the end of 2017.
