The number of people in Scotland set to benefit from having quicker internet speeds is set to increase further, with a rollout programme set to be extended to four villages in East Lothian.

After its launch in February, the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband has already enabled thousands of residents across the country to be able to access online connections of up to 80 Mbps.

Longniddry, Gullane, Pencaitland and Gifford are the latest areas to be included in the scheme, with work expected to be completed within the next few months.

Scotland's Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: "It's fantastic news that more communities and businesses around the country will soon begin to see the benefits of high-quality digital connectivity."

Meanwhile, local community leaders have also praised the venture East Lothian Councillor John McMillan saying he was "delighted" over the news that the four villages would soon be reaping the advantages, with residents and businesses alike set to be supported.
