Virgin Media 100Mbps fibre broadband welcomed by Wilts MP
The launch of Virgin Media's 100Mbps fibre optic broadband service in Trowbridge has been praised by South West Wiltshire MP Andrew Murrison.

Residents who sign up for the "ultra-fast" product will be able to take advantage of speeds that are more than 16 times above the UK's national average, according to the cable company.

Commenting on the news, Mr Murrison told the Wiltshire Times: "I welcome this development which will be good for individual users and businesses locally."

Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, added subscribers will be "blown away" by what they can do with a 100Mbps connection.

Their remarks come just days after Virgin announced more than one million homes across the country are now able to access the infrastructure, which was launched late last year.

According to the internet service provider, plans are on track to roll out the technology over its entire network - covering approximately 13 million homes - by mid 2012.
