Virgin Media Business launches new up to 1Gb/s service
Virgin Media's business broadband subsidiary has announced the launch of a new, faster offering known as Big Red Internet.

The new package will give firms a choice of broadband with 100Mb/s download speeds for £12,000 per year, or £22,000 per year for a 1Gb/s service.

An additional premium of £1,000 and £3,000 respectively can be paid if the customer wants Virgin Media Business to manage the network for them - a feature that includes router configuration and installation.

Speaking to tech news site V3, senior manager of applications and services at Virgin Media Business Matt McCloskey claimed the new deal will prove to be "highly disruptive" in the broadband market.

"Only one other provider in the market has the same level of network investment that we do and we don't think they will be able to copy this service," he remarked.

According to a poll carried out by Virgin Media Business, 93 per cent of companies said having unrestricted bandwidth would open up new possibilities.
