Whiteparish receives fibre optic broadband boost
The village of Whiteparish in Wiltshire has discovered it will gain access to fibre optic broadband in 2014.

Its all as a result of a £35.6 million deal between service provider BT, Wiltshire Council and South Gloucestershire Council.

Along with five other parts of the county, residents in Whiteparish have been told they can expect to have the infrastructure in place for a superfast connection from summer next year.

The move has been welcomed by businesses in the area who told the Romsey Advertiser it will make their day-to-day operations run more smoothly.

Lascar Electronics is a small business based in Whiteparish. Sales and Marketing Manager Ben Savage explained how slow broadband connections could have the potential to act as a deterrent for local entrepreneurs. He also said he was relishing the benefits it would bring to his own firm.

He said: "We run an international business and transfer a lot of large data files and video conferencing will certainly benefit from this."
