Worcestershire business community hails broadband rollout
The business community in Worcestershire has welcomed an announcement that £20 million will be spent on upgrading internet speeds in the country.

Worcestershire County Council is working with BT in order to bring speedy broadband connections to 55,000 homes and businesses.

Traplet Publications, which is based in Malvern but has offices around the world, is particularly pleased with the news, as it has to download books for printing every month.

Speaking to the Worcester News, Managing Director Tony Stephenson said that without fast broadband connections, it could take up to eight hours to download a PDF.

"Staff were leaving it going overnight, then sometimes they'd come to work the next morning and find the whole thing had crashed and they'd got nothing," he commented.

However, Mr Stephenson said that with improvements to broadband connectivity, the job could be completed in a matter of minutes.

He added that the company relies heavily on cloud technology, which means it is "totally useless" without a reliable web connection.

The broadband rollout in Worcestershire has already been commended by Communications Minister Ed Vaizey, who described it as "fantastic news" for the county.
