Worcestershire businessman praises superfast broadband deal
Plans to launch a multi-million pound project to improve broadband speeds in Worcestershire have been praised by a local businessman.

Scott Dougan, Director of Sowerby Footwear, hailed the plans as an important step towards improving the connectivity of businesses and homes across the area.

Speaking to the Evesham Observer, Mr Dougan described the project - covering the Vale of Evesham - as having the potential to develop customer bases and marketing operations.

He said: "The new broadband would be hugely welcomed by businesses and homes in the Vale and would make a tremendous impact.

"Having the broadband technology would be a boost as it could allow us to expand our custom base and market our products further out."

Mr Dougan went on to discuss his hope that the deal would put an end to connection issues in the area.

The contract between BT and Worcestershire County Council will see an investment of £20 million, which will help introduce superfast fibre optic broadband to Evesham, Pershore and the surrounding areas of the Vale.
