Yeovil residents petition over slow broadband
People living on the Wyndham housing estate in Yeovil have joined together to try to convince their local council and telephone companies to introduce quicker broadband speeds.

The Western Gazette reports a petition drawn up by the locals has already attracted over 100 signatures, after Website Designer Rick Lord - who lives and works in the area - decided enough was enough.

Meanwhile, BT and the Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) partnership have released a joint statement indicating that a new network for the area will be created.

Mr Lord told the newspaper that the current situation was "tedious" and urgent action was needed to rectify it.

Earlier this year, residents on the same estate complained they were receiving broadband speeds as low as 0.14Mbps.

However, BT and the CDS have stressed they need time to address the problem, as "a great deal of work is required", including new underground ducting and the laying of new cables.
