Network operator 3 Mobile is enabling consumers to get online on the go by sending its "human hotspots" to cities across the country.

Under the initiative, the mobile broadband provider will bring its MiFi device - which creates a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot using the company's 3G network - to London, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham and Newcastle.

Consumers who spot one of the white Lycra-clad human hotspots will then be able to connect to the web via tablets, portable games consoles and other gadgets while they are out and about.

The firm's marketing manager for mobile broadband propositions Matthew Halfin claimed browsing the internet while on the move has become a part of many people's everyday lifestyle.

He added: "We think it's important that we're able to support our customers by providing them with reliable and fast connectivity for wherever they want to go online."

Last month, YouGov carried out a poll of more than 2,000 people and found 3 Mobile is the country's most highly-rated mobile broadband provider.
