BT Race to Infinity sees 100% interest from Scottish village
BT has recognised a Berwickshire village as the first place in the UK in which every resident with broadband access has voted in the Race to Infinity.

The telecoms giant's initiative will see fibre optic broadband rolled out to the five exchange areas with the highest levels of demand, but Abbey St Bathans is too small to qualify for the scheme, reports the Berwickshire News.

Despite this, all 47 properties with a home broadband connection in the area have registered their interest in fibre, which has led to congratulations from BT.

In a statement to the newspaper, the company said: "We will be investigating ways to improve the broadband service there.

"Ian Shanks, our head of public affairs in Scotland, has already been speaking to community representatives."

At the end of last month, BT revealed three communities - Caxton in Cambridgeshire, Malvern in Worcestershire and Burley-In-Wharfedale in Yorkshire and the Humber - have passed 1,000 votes in the Race to Infinity.
