BT sending fibre optic broadband reps to Scotland
Residents of Edinburgh and Glasgow could be visited by a BT representative, who will explain the benefits of super-fast broadband.
The new technology, which BT has said delivers "super-fast upload and download speeds", has been rolled out to three exchange areas in the Scottish capital and is also available in a number of parts of Glasgow, including Bridgeton, Crookston and Hillington.
According to the telecoms giant, its fibre optic service enables subscribers to download music tracks in less than five seconds, while multiple bandwidth-hungry applications can be run at once.
Director of consumer sales at BT Libby Barr commented: "The new super-fast broadband service, BT Infinity, is an industry-leading product and we are keen to explain the benefits to potential and existing BT customers."
The Scottish cities are among the first communities in the UK to have access to the new infrastructure, although BT has revealed plans to roll it out to two-thirds of properties across the country by 2015.
