Get Online Week aims to bring broadband to 80k people
Get Online Week, a campaign that looks to bring broadband and other means of browsing the web to consumers around the UK, got underway today (October 18th 2010).

The event, organised by UK Online Centres, will run until October 24th and is aiming to show off the benefits of web access to more than 80,000 people.

This target is an eightfold increase on the 10,000 people who logged on to the web for the first time at the inaugural Get Online Day in 2008.

A number of internet service providers have lined up to partner this year's occasion, including the likes of 3 Mobile, BT, Sky and TalkTalk.

Managing director of UK Online Centres Helen Milner said: "With support from our partners, I'm now looking forward to a fantastic Get Online Week and a bumper month for digital inclusion."

The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that more than nine million adults across the country have never used the internet.

How many people realize that Internet Security has been greatly improved recently for purchasing from the net? Now you can select your purchases, give your delivery address click pay by PayPoint Cash Net, then print out your order to be bar code scanned by any of the participating PayPoint retail providers of which there are thousands. Hence if you prefer not to use a credit card you can pay in cash. This should greatly encourage more people to try the net and save them a great deal of money by purchasing via a genuine secure system. You can’t really beat payment in cash, but you can use a credit card if you so desire at these PayPoint outlets. Signed Carl Barron Chairman of agpcuk
