Home broadband speeds in Poole labelled terrible
Home broadband speeds in a Dorset town have been criticised as being unfit for purpose.

Pam Orchard, who lives in Poole, told the Bournemouth Echo she is unsatisfied with the broadband connection she gets at her residence and revealed she is not the only person to have noticed the issues with it.

"Everyone who comes to my house says it's really slow," she remarked.

The government has pledged to provide the UK with the best super-fast broadband network in Europe, but despite this, Ms Orchard was not confident of the problem being solved in the near future.

"Our broadband is really terrible and we've been told it is the best we can get for the area," she explained.

Under the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition's proposals, private sector companies such as BT and Virgin Media will deliver broadband to two-thirds of properties.

The final third, mostly covering rural areas, will be connected through the use of public funding.
