The Cloud offers free wireless broadband in London
Wireless broadband hotspot operator The Cloud has announced a deal with the City of London that will enable consumers to access the web for free.

Under the agreement, users within the Square Mile will be able to connect to the internet via The Cloud's Wi-Fi network for 15 minutes a day, with the company claiming more than 350,000 people will be able to take advantage of the initiative.

It has previously launched a similar offer in Glasgow and apparently sees thousands of people logging on to use it every day.

Managing director of The Cloud Naunton Dickins said the firm is "very excited" to have opened up its infrastructure within the City to enable consumers to get their "daily dose" of free Wi-Fi.

"This is mobile broadband in its true sense," he added.

The news comes just days after Sky announced it had acquired The Cloud, in a move that will allow the latter to take advantage of the broadcaster's high-speed broadband infrastructure.
