Uttlesford council mulls housing and broadband development
Uttlesford District Council is considering plans to build hundreds of new homes and a high-speed broadband network in the area.

The Fairfield Partnership wants to construct up to 800 properties between Elsenham and Henham, with a council spokesman confirming that the planning application was received on Wednesday (April 3rd 2013), reports the Saffron Walden Reporter.

As well as the homes, the developer is looking to deliver faster broadband connectivity, a new waste water treatment plant, a health centre, employment space and more.

Steve Biart, speaking on behalf of the Fairfield Partnership, said the organisation is convinced that the district council has not done enough to plan sufficiently for growth.

"Our planning application will allow the council to meet short-term needs in a properly planned and deliverable development proposal that matches new homes with investment in new services and facilities," he explained.

The Fairfield Partnership has already completed numerous similar projects in areas such as Brandon and Ipswich in Suffolk.
