Broadband service expansion in Cheshire
Thousands of homes and businesses across Cheshire are set to be included in ambitious new plans for the rollout of superfast broadband in the months ahead.

The Crewe Chronicle reports an additional 100,000 properties are to be connected to superfast broadband services as a result of the latest £6.5 million investment in the second phase of the Superfast Extension Programme for Connecting Cheshire.

A partnership between four Cheshire councils and BT, the scheme plans to take the number of connected properties across the county to more than 400,000 by summer 2017.

Connecting Cheshire Project Director Julian Cobley commented: "The response to our current rollout has been tremendous, with ever more homes and businesses taking the opportunity to upgrade to faster broadband. So to be able to extend this ... is fantastic news."

Deputy Leader of Cheshire East Council David Brown added the move will particularly benefit those living in rural areas over the coming months.
