BT claims broadband will not be affected by strike
Broadband in the UK will not be affected by a planned strike by BT workers, the company has claimed.

In a statement issued to Web User, a BT spokesman reassured home broadband customers that services would be unaffected by industrial action.

The spokesman said that the company has suitable business and corporate back-up plans in place to deal with the proposed strike by BT members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU).

"We are confident that the network and therefore customers' broadband and phone connections won't be impacted at all," the spokesman added.

The CWU issued ballot papers on Friday (June 18th) to decide if its members wanted to strike for better pay.

BT's profits of over £1 billion and large bonuses for senior managers and executives have made workers feel like they are missing out.

Bosses at BT offered workers a two per cent bonus plus a flat £250 on top. The ballot closes on July 5th.
