BT reports extension to Kcom managed network solutions deal
The extension of an agreement between BT and Kcom will see the latter offer its subscribers access to internet protocol (IP) voice services.

On announcing the amendment to the ten-year managed network solutions contract in place between the two companies, BT revealed it is the first time its Wholesale subsidiary has supported "carrier-grade" quality IP facilities.

Gavin Jones, client director at the wholesale broadband provider, forecast the development of "exciting voice applications" in the near future as a result of the advent of IP, as well as the "rapid" creation of new devices.

He insisted the Kcom agreement illustrates the benefits of having a long-term managed services contract in place, explaining BT is helping the firm "meet the growing demand from their business customers for the extra functionality and benefits that quality assured VoIP services can offer".

Kcom is a Hull-based telecoms provider that was created by the merger of Kingston Communications and Affiniti in November 2009.
