Gradwell, a Bath-based company specialising in telecommunications services for small businesses, has launched a competition in which firms can win a three-year connection to superfast fibre broadband.

The contest is aimed at startups across the UK, which are being asked to submit a story of no more than 500 words detailing how their business got off the ground.

They are likely to have faced many challenges along the way, but Gradwell believes some of these could be remedied by having access to a superfast broadband connection.

A Gradwell spokesperson commented: "As experts in providing reliable communications solutions for small businesses across the UK, we feel it's important to recognise the achievements of British startups."

In addition to the top prize, two runners-up will have the chance to win a free business internet connection for 12 months.

Companies will have until 1 August 2014 to submit their entries to the competition, with a select few set to appear on Gradwell's blog before the overall winner and runner-ups are decided and then announced in mid-September.
