Cambridge Broadband Networks hails Tech Track 100 inclusion
Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL) has hailed its inclusion in the latest Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 league table.

The company, which provides telecoms operators with carrier-class wireless broadband equipment that enables point-to-multipoint transmission, was named at number 38 on the list of the UK's fastest growing firms in the technology sectors.

Its appearance at number 38 marks the fourth year that CBNL has featured in the chart, making it one of only eight businesses to have achieved this feat.

CBNL also significantly improved its position from the 2010 Tech Track 100, when it was named in 59th place.

Headquartered in Cambridge, the firm has offices in Malaysia, Nigeria and South Africa, as well as manufacturing facilities in China.

Having won the award outright in 2004, the organisation - which has deployed products in more than 30 countries - has continued to perform strongly, racking up sales of £27.8 million last year.

VectaStar, its multipoint mobile platform, has been rolled out by network operators across Europe, Africa and Asia.

Graham Peel, chief executive of CBNL, commented: "Being recognised as one of the fastest growing UK companies three times is certainly a proud achievement. Being recognised for a fourth time and to see ourselves climb up the table is a testament to the dedicated and skilled team at CBNL."

As carriers begin to deploy Long-Term Evolution mobile broadband infrastructure and consider the adoption of small-cell networks, a wholesale change in the mobile infrastructure technology market, he added.

"This represents a new challenge and market opportunity for CBNL that will see us continue to develop innovative and alternative solutions," Mr Peel added.

Among the other internet and telecoms service providers included in this year's Tech Track 100 is UK2.net, which was ranked in 45th after undergoing a management buyout in April.

Updata Infrastructure, QiComm, Wireless Logic, Keycom and Fluidata also featured in the league table.
